Spring 2008: Live Webcast of Seawolves men, women in play for National Title

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Seawolf fans will gather in the Student Union cafeteria on Wednesday morning, March 26, to watch the men's and women's basketball teams in their respective NCAA Division II Elite Eight quarterfinals, both games being shown in a live Webcast over the NCAA site.

At 9 a.m., the UAA Women take on Franklin Pierce in a game in Kearney, Neb., while the men play California-PA in Springfield, Mass., starting at 10:30 a.m. Admission Free. Refreshments available. Go, Seawolves!

Meanwhile, the UAA Alumni Association has been trumpeting the Seawolves' success far and wide. Over the past week, for example, the A.A. has been organizing, hosting and sponsoring Seawolf basketball game-watching parties, welcome-home gatherings at the airport, and receptions on campus for our student athletes. It also has posted a slideshow and photos online. Visit the Alumni Association's site, enjoy the pictures and be part of a truly historic moment -- the first time the women's basketball team has won the NCAA Division II West Region championship. Which means, of course, it's also the first time that both UAA hoops squads have won the West Region crowns in the same year -- on the same night, no less, March 17.

That was a magical evening, but it's a Great Day any day to be a Seawolf!
