HighlanderChancellor Fran Ulmer will soon have a new set of wheels. Today from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Ulmer will visit Kendall Toyota of Anchorage to get an orientation of her new eco-friendly Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The vehicle is part of Chancellor Ulmer's contract with the University of Alaska Anchorage and will be used for university-related purposes.

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid has won numerous awards, including the 2008 Top Safety Pick Award by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 2007 Intellichoice Excellent Value Award, 2007 Intellichoice Lowest Operating Costs Award, among others.

UAA is committed to responsible energy and resource management as part of an overall environmental strategy. Adding an eco-friendly car to UAA's fleet is just one way the University is becoming more "green" by minimizing energy use, reducing the environmental impact of harmful emissions and limiting the depletion of non-renewable resources.
