MegMeg Hutchinson, whose "elegant, free floating ballads ... feel both modern and rooted" (The Boston Globe), will perform today at a free concert in Peratrovich Park in Anchorage (4th Ave. & E St.).

Lovers of modern folk music by such artists as Shawn Colvin and Dar Williams will enjoy hearing the Boston-based Hutchinson. Alaska's own Melissa Mitchell will open for her. Hutchinson is only 29 and has already won numerous songwriting awards in the United States, Ireland and the UK.

The concert is being presented by UAA Student Activities and the Anchorage Downtown Partnership. Hutchinson also will appear for a free performance at noon at the Campus Bookstore.
