Dr. Jocelyn Krebs to be on Line One: Your Health Connection today

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Associate Professor Jocelyn Krebs of the UAA Dept. of Biological Sciences will be the guest today, Aug. 18, on "Line One: Your Health Connection," with Dr. Thad Woodard.

KSKA The call-in radio program airs live at 2 p.m. and will repeat as a taped program at 7 p.m. this evening. "Line One" shows are archived for listening any time at http://kska.org/category/lineone/.

Dr. Woodard, an Anchorage pediatrician and the show's host, attended Prof. Krebs's April 3 lecture, titled "This Frog Has No Brain," on the UAA campus. He engaged Prof. Krebs afterward and invited her on his show.

"This Frog Has No Brain" was the first in the new Relevant Research series of free lectures at UAA. It offered the audience a glimpse of Prof. Krebs's work with frogs in which she is bringing us closer to understanding the basic developmental processes that are disturbed in those suffering from the disease known as Williams Syndrome, and the power of a protein that works to prevent a major cause of blindness in children.

On today's program, Dr. Woodard and Prof. Krebs will talk about the links between basic science research, medicine and epigenetics.
