49th State Fellows Program awarded National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Challenge Grant

by Kathleen McCoy  |

A program of the University Honors College, the 49th State Fellows Program, was recently awarded a Challenge Grant of up to $500,000 from the NEH. This grant is from the We the People program which is described by the NEH Web site in the following way: "We the People is an NEH program designed to encourage and enhance the teaching, study, and understanding of American history, culture, and democratic principles."

This challenge grant will be used to inspire contributions from the private sector and to provide endowed funding for the 49th State Fellows Honors Program. This is the first such grant made by the NEH to UAA.

For information on how to contribute to UAA's We the People Challenge Grant, please contact Ivy Spohnholz at x61944, or by E-mail at anias2@uaa.alaska.edu.

Congratulations to the 49th State Fellows Program for this great accomplishment!
