Today is the last day to apply to be a mentor for Disability Mentor Day

October is National Disability Month. On Thursday, October 23, UAA will join other employers to participate in "Disability Mentor Day."

Volunteer mentors are needed to participate in Disability Mentor Day. To learn more about being a volunteer mentor, please visit the Office of Campus Diversity & Compliance Web site at www.uaa.alaska.edu/diversity.

Mentor applications are due by Friday, September 19.

Disability Mentor Day is a national program that promotes career development for students and job-seekers with disabilities. On this day, mentees will shadow workplace mentors, learn about the world of work and receive information for career exploration. Mentors have an opportunity to share their work experience and introduce career paths at UAA. It is a day of learning where a mentee can experience how the skills learned in school relate to the workplace.

If you have questions, please call (907) 786-4680. It is a wonderful opportunity for the UAA community to share information with mentees about our work and learning environment.
