In a combined effort, researchers from ENRI, Chemistry, Biology and Geology received a major equipment grant from the National Science Foundation ($411,000) for a High Performance Liquid Chromatograph coupled to an Ion Trap and a Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer.

The instruments will enhance UAA's research in a number of directions, including Health Sciences, Toxicology, Molecular Chemistry, Biochemistry and Environmental Chemistry. The instruments will be set up in the interdisciplinary Applied Science, Engineering, and Technology Laboratory (ASET). It will also be available for student research and training at the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as to researchers and students of other Alaska campuses.
