Richard Chiappone, Kachemak Bay Campus and UAA Creative Writing Low Residency instructor was the featured guest on the BBC Radio 3 showcase of new writing, literature and performance, "The Verb," presented by Ian McMillan. Author of Water of an Undetermined Depth, Chiappone's new short story, "Ladies Hockey," was read on the program. This is the second time Chiappone's creative work has been showcased on the BBC. Last year the BBC broadcast one of Chiappone's essays.

Also featured on this edition of "The Verb" was a discussion of Alaska writing and literature on Alaska's 50th anniversary. Joining Chiappone for that discussion was Ronald Spatz, Alaska Quarterly Review executive editor and dean of UAA's Honors College. This edition of "The Verb" aired today, Jan. 30 at 9:15 p.m. in the UK. Information about listening on-line is available on BBC's Web site.
