DegreeWorks helps track student progress online

by Kathleen McCoy  |

DegreeWorks (DW) is an electronic degree audit system that will allow users to apply student records to catalog requirements and get a snapshot of a student's progress toward completing a program of study. We will also be entering all Academic Petitions into DW so that students and advisors can readily see where the petitions apply to a student's program.

Any staff or faculty member who has advisor privileges in Banner will be able to access DW. It is found under the Faculty Services tab, in the Advisor Menu link.

To log in:

Click on the Degreeworks link in UAOnline

  • Select the UAA Degreeworks instance
  • Enter your UAID (30######) as the User ID
  • Enter your UAOnline PIN as the password

Requirement blocks are created for four catalogs -- 2005-06 through 2008-09. You can enter a student ID or search for students using the find link in the upper left-hand corner. When you select a student, their major and catalog information will be populated from Banner and their courses applied to their program of study.

You may use the "Notes" tab to enter any advising notes. This will allow other advisors, Enrollment Management staff and the student to have a record of the advice you provided. Please be aware that you will not have the ability to edit notes once they have been saved. You can contact the Office of the Registrar for assistance if necessary. In the future, DW will include a course planner that will allow a student or adviser to map out a number of years of courses and suggestions.

As you use this service, please send feedback and questions to aydegrees@uaa.alaska.edu. This assistance is valuable as testing and requirement building are finalized before releasing this product to students.
