Last weekend for 'The Women of...' on UAA Mainstage

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Feb. 27-March 1, Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m., Sunday 3 p.m.
Fine Arts Building, Room 220

The UAA Department of Theatre and Dance presents The Women of... directed by UAA Theatre Professor Dr. David Edgecombe. The script is a collaboration among five playwrights, including UAA students and members of the community.

Euripides criticized war and its effect on women in The Trojan Women 2,500 years ago. Edgecombe has adapted the classic play by placing it in a modern context. Using testimonies and music, this performance explores the emotional consequences for those in combat. The Women of... is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices of women on the home front and the human toll of war.

Friday and Saturday shows are at 8 p.m. and tickets are $13 for general admission and $18 for reserved seats. Sunday shows are at 3 p.m. and tickets are $10 for general admission and $13 for reserved seats. Discounts are offered to students, seniors, military and groups of 15 or more.

For media information or interviews, please contact director David Edgecombe or e-mail him at afdpe@uaa.alaska.edu. For ticket information, please call the UAA Theatre Box Office at (907) 786-4849.
