Spring 2009: Provost promises chicken dance at UAF game for demonstrated support of scholarships

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Deadline to show support: Friday, Feb. 27, Noon

Provost Mike Driscoll challenges UAA employees to join his enthusiasm for UAA Athletics' success in competition and in the classroom.

If UAA employees make 50 new gifts to the Seawolf Athletics Legacy Scholarship Endowment, the Provost will do the Chicken Dance at the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup hockey game on Saturday, Feb. 28. Your gift, regardless of size, will count. He wants to see 50 new gifts by Friday, Feb. 27 at noon.

You can make your gift online, by phone or via payroll deduction (minimum gift amount applies). Go to www.uaa.alaska.edu/giving and click on 'Make a Gift Now' or call (907) 786-1211 for more information.

The Legacy Scholarship Endowment is a long-term investment in our student-athletes and will provide scholarships for future student-athletes.

With grades from the 2008 calendar year complete:

  • Our Seawolf student-athletes tied an all-time best with a combined 3.13 grade-point average.
  • Approximately 63 percent of Seawolf student-athletes earned above a 3.00 for Spring and Fall 2008.
  • In addition, 17 Seawolves earned perfect 4.0 GPAs in the Fall 2008 semester.

The UAA vs. UAF Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup hockey game is on Saturday, Feb. 28. So bring your green and gold spirit, and cheer on your Seawolves.

Thank you for your generous support of our UAA Seawolves!
