Spring 2009: Seaweed and climate change: What's the connection?

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Today, Feb. 27, 3:30-4:45 p.m.
Social Sciences Building (SSB), Room 118

While climate change is considered the cataclysm of our age, little focus has come to understanding how ecosystems may adapt at different scales. In this talk by Lilian Alessa, we explore the remarkable features of the brown alga, Fucus, and discuss how it informs our anticipation of a warmer ... or colder ... world. In addition, its versatility as a model system for early development across species under conditions of environmental change will be presented.

For our off-campus guests, please note that parking on the UAA campus is free of charge on Fridays. No-host refreshments will be provided for which your contributions are greatly appreciated. Come join us!
