Information Management students on the mark in national competition

The University of Alaska Anchorage College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) is pleased to announce their students ranked an impressive 2nd out of 60 teams in the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) 14th Annual National Collegiate Conference.

Seven students attended the conference in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on April 2-4. Nathan Bower, Natalia Gavrish, Ron Macedo, Alina Moldovan, Chad Solberg, Erik Swanson and Kim Williams are all seniors in the Management of Information Systems (MIS) program in the Computer Information Systems Department in the CBPP. There were estimated to be 600 total students in attendance with up to 60 teams per competition. Only one college received more awards, and that team had 40 students that attended the conference. The awards are:

2nd Places:
Web Development Project (Alina, Chad, Nathan, and Ron)
System Analysis & Design (Alina and Nathan)

3rd Places:
Business Intelligence (Nathan)
Database Design (Alina and Erik)

Network Design (Ron)
Graphics Design (Kim)
Business Intelligence (Chad and Ron)
Java (Nathan and Natalia)

The AITP National Collegiate Conference is the single largest event produced by AITP annually. Co-hosts included AITP Student Chapters from Cameron University, Oklahoma Panhandle State University and the University of Central Oklahoma and AITP Professional Chapters from Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Northwest Arkansas.
