Last jazz concert set for Wednesday

The UAA Department of Music is sponsoring the last concert in its annual Jazz Week Benefit Concert Series on Wednesday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the UAA Arts Building Recital Hall, Room 150.

This concert will feature these UAA student groups: the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Jazz Combos and the UAA Jazz Ensemble (big band). This event will culminate evidence of students' work through their participation in weekly rehearsals and various performance opportunities afforded each group throughout the spring semester. Selections will include standard jazz repertoire, such as Night Train, Black Orpheus, The Way You Look Tonight, Birdland and Chelsea Bridge.

Advance tickets are $2 for UAA students; $5 for seniors, students and military; and $10 for general admission. Tickets on the day of the concert will be $7 for UAA students; $10 seniors, students and military; $15 for general admission. There is no reserved seating. Tickets are sold only at the UAA Box Office, (907) 786-4849. Proceeds benefit Jazz Week 2009, March 16-18.
