New Dances 2009

Weekends from April 10 through April 19 Fridays and Saturdays, 8 p.m. Sundays, 6 p.m.

This annual dance event showcases 40 performers in 11 diverse premieres. Among them is a work called "Permisions to Forget," created for six members of the UAA Dance Ensemble by celebrated choreographer Peter Carpenter, a dance department professor at Columbia College Chicago.

UAA Theatre and Dance professor Brian Jeffery's work, "Thirteen Thoughts on Love," also featuring dancers from the UAA Ensemble, received national attention when it premiered at the Northwest Regional American College Dance Festival at Utah Valley University in March.

"Secrets under the Skin," inspired by the 12 years of field work Professor Jill Crosby has spent researching religious rituals in Ghana, West Africa and in Cuba. Read about many more aspects of this rich program in a full press release here.

All seats are general admission and priced the same for all performances. General admission is $10, UAA students are $8. Tickets are available through the UAA Theatre Box Office at 786-4TIX.
