The Office of International Affairs welcomes new staff member

Dr. Ted Kassier, Director of International Affairs, is pleased to announce the appointment of Leslie Tuovinen to the post of International Affairs Coordinator. This is a new position for the Office of International Affairs, and the hiring of Tuovinen will help to further UAA's international development efforts as defined in UAA's Strategic Plan 2017. Leslie was chosen from a pool of more than 60 applicants from across the nation.

Ms. Tuovinen brings to this position more than 17 years of experience in the field of international education. Prior to taking two years off for professional development and international travel, Leslie spent 13 years as UAA's International Student Advisor and Assistant Study Abroad and Exchange Coordinator. She is now rejoining the UAA community in a key role for the growth and development of the Office of International Affairs. Leslie will assist in the recruitment of international students; the development, marketing and facilitation of study abroad opportunities; the building of international relationships; the promotion of Fulbright opportunities for faculty; and in coordinating with faculty, departments and programs in identifying and advancing international aspects of the curriculum, among many other duties.
