Spring 2009: Mountaineering literature is topic for bookstore panel

Dr. David Stevenson is director of UAA's Creative Writing and Literary Arts Dept. He will lead a discussion about mountaineer literature with Clare Chesher, literary critic from the UAA Department of English UAA; Charlie Sassara, climber and owner of Alaska Rock Gym; and Bill Sherwonit, author of Living with Wildness and numerous nature books.

David Stevenson is fairly new to UAA and is book editor for the American Alpine Journal. He has been teaching creative writing for more than 20 years at the University of Utah, University of California Davis, and at Western Illinois University where he was full professor and director of the Graduate Program in English. He first came to Alaska in 1977.
