Conference dates: Thursday and Friday, June 4-5, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
BP Energy Center, 900 E. Benson Blvd.

The Geriatric Education Center within the UAA College of Health and Social Welfare is sponsoring a statewide training and networking opportunity for geriatric clinicians at the BP Energy Center on Thursday and Friday, June 4-5. This year's conference will feature two days of discovery and innovative practices in aging health care quality and safety, with topics focused on four themes: Safety, Quality, Medications and Behavioral Support.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Loren Lipson, former chief of geriatric medicine at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. Dr. Lipson has been involved in training and education programs concerning care development and assessment at the State of Alaska's six state-funded, long-term care facilities (Pioneers' Homes). He has continued to support efforts to develop and sustain a geriatric institute and geriatric medical program in Alaska. He has been a speaker and key presenter at the "Care of the Elderly Conference" in Sitka and the "Promoting Best Practices Conference" in Anchorage.
