UAA is one of 13 partners joining together to serve as the Anchorage Community Diversity Project. ACDP is focusing on creating opportunities for meaningful and authentic dialogue about race and diversity to the Anchorage Community. Phase one of the project partnership featured guest speaker, Dr. Martin Brokenleg, director and professor at First Nations Theology and Ministry, Vancouver School of Theology. For 30 years, Dr. Brokenleg was professor of Native American studies at Augustana College of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

On May 26, 2009 a Community Dialogue on Race and Diversity was held at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium. A video stream of the evening event is available at mms://wm.uaa.alaska.edu/anjmc2/dr_brokenleg_speech.wmv. Viewers will need a Windows Media player to watch it. We invite you to listen to Dr. Brokenleg discuss Anchorage as a global city, similarities individuals share, relationship building and the "Circle of Courage" model.

Special thanks to the UAA Diversity Action Council. For more information about the Anchorage Community Diversity Project, please visit the Office of Campus Diversity and Compliance or call us at (907) 786-4680.
