TONIGHT: Daniel Seddiqui: 'Living the Map: 50 Jobs in 50 States'

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Tonight, Aug. 27, 9:30 p.m.
Gorsuch Commons, Room 107

Twenty-seven-year-old Daniel Seddiqui has spent the last year working a different job in a different state one week at a time. Now in his 48th week, he's calling Anchorage home, and is working with local photographer Clark James Mishler. His journey started when, upon graduation from college with a degree in economics, he couldn't find employment anywhere in his chosen field.

His philosophy: When life hands you lemons, think outside the box. Daniel is on a mission to explore various careers, environments and cultures that America has to offer. He started his travels nearly one year ago and has only Hawaii and his home state, California, remaining. He has worked as a marine biologist in Seattle, WA; a rodeo announcer in Sioux Falls, SD; a wedding coordinator in Las Vegas, NV; a petroleum engineer in Houston, TX; and several other surprising gigs.

Hear Daniel speak about his adventures this tonight, Aug. 27 at 9:30 p.m. in the Gorsuch Commons (Room 107) on UAA's campus. The Gorsuch Commons is located on Elmore Drive, near student housing. Parking is available in the visitor lot on the south side of the Commons. You can find the location on UAA's campus map.

Listen to an NPR report about Daniel's travels. Check out Daniel's Web site to see where he's been and what he's done.
