September is Safety Awareness Month: Tip #5

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Moose frequently walk through campus grounds. Never attempt to feed a moose or attempt to get between a cow and a calf. Never walk toward a moose and try to remain at least 50 feet away. If a moose charges, try to move behind a tree. If a moose attacks, get down on the ground, cover your head, and stay very still. If you see a moose on campus next to University buildings or walkways, call University Police and an officer will come to monitor the moose and alert passers-by.
