Fall 2009: UAA graduate and ceramic artist Deborah Schwartzkopf offers weekend workshop, lecture

Deborah Schwartzkopf was a student in the UAA Ceramics Area from 2000 to 2002. Since then, she has gone on to develop an extremely successful career as an artist and educator. After leaving UAA, Deb spent a year studying ceramics at San Diego State University. She went on to receive her MFA from Penn State University. After leaving graduate school, Deb was accepted as a resident artist at the Archie Bray Foundation for Ceramic Arts in Helena, Montana, where she was awarded a $5,000 fellowship.

Since then, Deb has been an artist in residence in Boston, Massachusetts and Berlin, Germany and a visiting professor at Ohio University and Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Her work has been in numerous national and international exhibitions. Beginning in October, Deb will begin a residency at Pottery Northwest in Seattle, Wash. This free event is presented by UAA Claybody.
