Fire Prevention Week offers reminder on safety basics

This is National Fire Prevention week. A U.S. tradition since 1922, it's a good time to take a look around where you live and work to ensure that smoke detectors work and fire extinguishers are in place and charged.
Pick up ABC type extinguishers and give them a good shake; extinguishing agent settles in the bottom of the canister and "cakes" over time. Do you know a secondary escape route if there was a fire right now? Does everyone around you know where to gather as a class, office or family once outside a burning building?
