UAA Music presents 'Classic Jazz, the Music of Horace Silver' - Oct. 29, 2009

Tonight, Oct. 29, 7:30 p.m. Fine Arts Building, Recital Hall

Pianist, composer, arranger and band leader Horace Silver came to prominence in the mid-1950s as a leader of the "hard bop" style of jazz which blended bebop with gospel and blues.

Trumpeter Kerry Maule leads an all star quintet through some of Silver's best known compositions, including "Sister Sadie," "Peace" and "The Preacher."

With Kerry Maule, trumpet; Richard Baum, tenor sax; Kevin Barnett, piano; Errol Bressler, bass; and Robert Arms, drums.

Advance tickets are $2 for UAA students with current ID, $5 for students, seniors and military, and $10 for general admission. All tickets are $5 more the day of the show.
