UAA introduces new self-service method to obtain your campus username and password

New UAA Identity Management System Web site available now.

Colleagues, Here at UAA, all students, employees and recognized patrons are currently given electronic identities consisting of a UAA username (such as anxxx, asxxx, afxxx) and a password. These identities are used to access a variety of services such as campus wireless, computer labs, and Blackboard, among others.

Over the course of the next eight months, UAA will be transitioning to a new electronic identity system. We will be migrating from the current UAA username to a new UA username (based upon your name -- first initial, middle initial, last name) which will become your single identity regardless of where you go within the University of Alaska. This is a significant project and will require your assistance as we proceed. The goal is to have all UAA employees and students using their new UA username based system-wide electronic identity by June 30, 2010.

Our first step in kicking off this project is to implement a new self-service UAA Identity Management System. This web-based system permits UAA users to perform a number of self-service actions:

  • Claim a new identity -- Students and employees new to UAA can obtain their new UA Username and default password by answering several questions. No more need to call the IT Call Center for assistance.
  • Reset password -- Forget your password? You can reset it here by answering several questions.
  • Change password -- Need to change your password? You can do it here.
  • UA username and UA ID -- Forgot one of these? You can find them here.

This Web site became operational Oct. 25. We encourage you to visit the Web site, check out the information and FAQs there, and try it out. We hope you will find it useful. Call the IT Call Center at (907) 786-4646 or 1 (877)-633-3888 if you have questions concerning http://me.uaa.alaska.edu.
