Governor and his Cabinet met at UAA Nov. 4

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Last Wednesday, Nov. 4, Governor Parnell and his Cabinet met in the Professional Studies Building (PSB) and then joined a group of students, faculty and staff members for a brief tour of some of UAA's facilities. Nursing students led a demonstration with the new simulation baby and simulation man in the PSB labs, engineering students performed demonstrations in three of their teaching labs, and the tour culminated with a short presentation in UAA's new planetarium and visualization theater.

Visiting the Engineering, Professional Studies and ConocoPhillips Integrated Science Buildings provided visual examples of how the university is working to meet the state's workforce needs and how we are educating the next generation of Alaska's leaders. Having Governor Parnell and his Cabinet on campus also gave us the opportunity to personally thank them for their support. It was a wonderful visit, and we are grateful to Governor Parnell for taking the time to come to campus for this special meeting.\
