Kids Count Alaska (KCAK) is a project of the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the Institute of Social and Economic Research at the University of Alaska Anchorage. KCAK monitors and reports on the health, safety and economic status of Alaska's children on a number of indicators ranging from health care coverage to high school graduation rates. Led by Research Associate Virgene Hanna, the project releases an annual data book containing this information so that the public and policymakers can make informed decisions to improve the lives of Alaska's children and families. The 2009 data book has just been released.

Kids Count is a state and national effort funded by the Casey Foundation to track the status of children. Kids Count Alaska provides citizens and policymakers with current data needed to make informed decisions about priorities, services, and resources affecting Alaska's children, families and communities.
