Fall 2009: ENRI Colloquium -- Marine mammals in a changing ocean: Sentinels or sitting targets?

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Today, Dec. 4, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
ConocoPhillips Integrated Science Building, Room 120

Dr. Jennifer Burns will talk about marine mammal habitat requirements and how climate change may impact the ability of marine mammals to make a good living in the ocean. She will discuss how new technologies are improving our ability to assess the habitat requirements of marine mammals by collecting oceanographic data at appropriate temporal and spatial scales, and why physiology may limit the ability of marine mammals to respond to shifts in oceanographic conditions. There will be a focus on species from the Arctic and Antarctic. There will be a poster session, refreshments, mingling and discussions from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Dr Burn's talk will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., including time for questions and discussions.
