First UAA report from NWCCU accreditation team now available online

In September, an evaluation team from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) was on campus for the initial visit of UAA's 2010 reaccreditation process. The team met with staff, faculty, students and community members to discuss UAA's mission and core themes, to evaluate the university's resources and capacities, and to review the first two chapters of the accreditation report being written for the NWCCU.

Following their visit, the evaluation team wrote and sent a report describing their findings and including commendations and recommendations for UAA. A response from UAA to that report was submitted to the NWCCU on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009. The original report that the evaluation team submitted and UAA's response to that report both will be considered by the NWCCU Board of Commissioners when they vote on reaffirmation of institutional accreditation in mid-January 2010. The report and the response are now available to view at www.uaa.alaska.edu/accreditation.

UAA's Accreditation Steering Committee is working with all university leaders to address the recommendations of the evaluation team. In March 2010, UAA will submit its next report to the NWCCU, which will focus on Planning and Implementation, and Effectiveness and Improvement.
