'Freakonomics' author to speak at UAA on Jan. 27

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Wednesday, Jan. 27, 4-5:15 p.m.
Book signing: 5:15-6 p.m.

Rasmuson Hall, Room 117

Author Stephen J. Dubner shows how economics is, at root, the study of incentives -- that is, how people get  what they want, or need, especially when other people want or need the same thing.

His books, Freakonomics and Superfreakonomics, show that the modern world, despite a great deal of complexity and downright deceit, is not impenetrable, is not unknowable, and -- if the right questions are asked -- is even more intriguing than we think. All it takes is a new way of looking.

This event is free and is sponsored by the UAA Economics Club, the UAA College of Business and Public Policy, AEDC and the UAA Campus Bookstore.
