Kenai Peninsula College's Kachemak Bay Campus Director receives literacy award

The Alaska Center for the Book, a non-profit organization that has been celebrating the richness and diversity of language since 1991, has selected Kenai Peninsula College's Kachemak Bay Campus Director Carol Swartz as one of four recipients of the 2009 Contributions to Literacy in Alaska award.

Swartz is being recognized for her impressive work in establishing the nationally recognized Kachemak Bay Writers' Conference held in Homer, Alaska each summer. The highly acclaimed conference features workshops, readings and panel presentations in fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and the business of writing.
