2010 Cabin Fever Debates continue on Feb. 9

The first two rounds of the intramural Cabin Fever Debates began on Feb. 2. The team of Christopher Dunaway and John Dunaway (The Mount Baldy Ski Team) took first place, earning an automatic bid to the semifinal round on March 2. Joining The Mount Baldy Ski Team in the semifinal will be the winners of Round 2, Danielle Brusven and Kelsey Waldorf (Instramentals).



The Seawolf Debate team is proud to sponsor Rounds 3 and 4 on Feb. 9 at 7 and 8:30 p.m. in SSB 118. The first debate will address the motion "The U.S. should decline to sell arms to Taiwan." Defending the motion in the role of Opening Proposition will be the team "Mighty Marivaudage Masseters" of Brittany Wilson (senior, psychology) and Rachel Johnson. Closing the debate for the proposition will be team "Dumb & Dumber" of George Joy (freshman, undeclared) and Justin Stephan (junior, English). Opening the opposition debate will be team "Army" of Cameron Barrows (sophomore, political science) and James Young (freshman, political science). The Closing Opposition team will be "Team Slaymaker" of Clayton Dale (sophomore, sociology) and Adriene Slaymaker (junior, philosophy).
 


Round 4 will feature the teams of: 1st Proposition "Rush" - Matile Weddel (freshman, broadcast journalism) and Jeffrey Smith (freshman, elementary education); 1st Opposition "Dick Cheney is my hero" - Jason Cline (senior, economics) and Ryan Mckee (junior, political science); 2nd Proposition "Optimus Prime" - Jordan Phillips (sophomore, journalism) and Mya Dale (freshman, political science); and 2nd Opposition "Blabber Mouths" - Sun So (freshman, civil engineering) and Maichue Lor (freshman, human services). They will debate the motion "Any federal health care bill should not provide funding for abortions, except in the cases of rape, incest, or risk to the mother's life" at 8:30 p.m.
