UAA graduate Carrie Plant, M.Ed., recognized for her work at Beth Shalom Jewish Education Center in Anchorage

Carrie Plant is the 2009 co-recipient of the Kathleen W. McCartan Award, given to an undergraduate or graduate student who has made significant contributions through their service to the field, community and professional organizations.

Carrie is associate administrator and lead preschool teacher at Congregation Beth Shalom Jewish Education Center in Anchorage, Alaska. At the time of this nomination, Carrie was completing the M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education at the University of Alaska Anchorage; Carrie graduated in August 2009.

The Division for Early Childhood (DEC) is one of 17 divisions of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) -- the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities and/or the gifted.
