Thursday, March 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

UAA/APU Consortium Library, Room 307

Diana Steffen Steer graduated from Colorado State University as an Occupational Therapist in 1985. She currently works at UAA as the Academic Coordinator of the joint Creighton University/UAA Occupational Therapy doctoral program. She is a certified 'Nurtured Heart Approach' practitioner.

Through her private practice, Ms. Steer works with the Unalaska City School District and she is a member of the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Diagnostic teams based out of Assets, Inc. and Southcentral Foundation. She is also a member of the advisory board for HOPE Alaska and she is an affiliate faculty member of the Arctic FASD RTC.

Ms. Steer's interest in sensory processing and FAS has evolved from an initial interest in autism and sensory processing. Through this workshop, she plans to provide participants with a more thorough understanding of sensory processing, its effects on learning, everyday routines and activities. There will be a strong emphasis on intervention and communication strategies through interactive experiences and class participation. For more information, visit the Arctic FASD Web site.
