Heather Shelton, a UAA student in the German language program, was recently awarded the 2010-11 Congress-Bundestag Scholarship. She is UAA's sixth recipient of this prestigious award in five consecutive years. Heather is one of the 75 award recipients selected from a pool of over 850 candidates.

Heather has been a student in the German language program since 2006. Last year, she declared a double major in International Studies. She plans to spend a year in Germany, which will be fully sponsored by the two governments. She will complete an internship in the area of A/V technology, an area she has been interested in for many years.

Heather's mentor, Dr. Natasa Masanovic, associate professor and coordinator of the German language program, said, "This is a wonderful accomplishment, and she is another exemplary German student. William Maier, the chief program officer of the Congress-Bundestag Scholarship, commended me and our institution on the unique success of our German students, and wanted me to know that UAA German students have been the most outstanding candidates for their scholarship program."
