April 29, 2010: Memorial service scheduled for former Atwood Chair, John Strohmeyer

Alaska was John Strohmeyer's home, body and soul, since he arrived in 1987 as a visiting professor to fill the UAA Atwood Chair of Journalism. He came to teach and fish, and stayed to write about our oil, fisheries and politics in a way that made their role more understandable to all of us.

On April 29 we will have the opportunity to remember John and wish him God speed to his next challenge. May heaven be ready for him.
 
For those wishing to contribute to John's memory, donations may be made to the UAA Consortium Library's Atwood Reading Room for which John established an endowment several years ago, or to the Endowment for Journalism and Public Communications Faculty Advancement.
