Friday, April 9, 9-10 a.m.
UAA/APU Consortium Library, Room 214

Are your students fearful of public speaking? Do you want to provide clearer guidelines for speaking assignments in your class? Are you sure the way you grade speeches is helping students become better speakers?

This workshop, conducted by Shawnalee Whitney, associate professor of Communication and Discourse Studies, will address strategies for improving speaking assignments from developing the handout down to grading the speeches. Professor Whitney will address methods for helping students cope with communication apprehension (stage fright) and will provide insight into the basic speaking competencies identified by the National Communication Association.
