TONIGHT: University Singers Concert set for April 19

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Monday, April 19, 7:30 p.m.

UAA Fine Arts Building, Recital Hall

You are invited to join the University Singers for a wonderful evening of music on April 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the UAA Fine Arts Building Recital Hall. Beautiful things happen when students combine their voices to present this demanding program.

Highlighted in the program are works by J. S. Bach: Motet "Lobet den Herrn" BMV 230, Copland: Motets; Haydn: Der Sturm and Vaughan-Williams: Serenade to Music.  Music Director Tai Wai Li is quoted as saying: "The program is very challenging, but the students in this small group are talented and hard-working and I am confident that the evening will be a wonderful musical experience for the audience."

UAA's University Singers appeared in the Performing Arts Center last October singing Vivaldi's Gloria, and the Anchorage Daily News called the event "successful."

Tickets are available at the UAA Fine Arts Building Box Office, or by calling (907) 786-4849. Advance tickets are $10 general; $5 students, seniors and military; and $2 for a UAA student with current ID. Tickets purchased the day of performance are $15, $10 and $7.  For more information call (907) 786-1595 or www.uaa.alaska.edu/music/.
