If you will be in Anchorage on June 15 and would like to attend in person, please let us know.

Webinar description: According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) is designed to inform healthcare decisions by providing evidence on the effectiveness, benefits and harms of different treatment or intervention options. CER includes process evaluation, impact-outcome evaluation and cost-effectiveness evaluation. It also answers questions such as:

  • Can the 'new' interventions be delivered by regular staff with fidelity?
  • Did the intervention produce significantly improved impact and outcomes?
  • What was the cost per unit of effect?

Whether for an official, funded CER project or for an internal comparison to inform healthcare choices, the CER methodology is an important tool for the Alaska healthcare workforce and agencies.

The presenter will be Dr. Richard Windsor,  a professor at the School of Public Health, George Washington University Medical Center and jointly appointed as UAA Presidential Professor of Public Health. He will present case material from current and previously funded NIH RO1's including the West Virginia Smoking Cessation and Reduction in Pregnancy Treatment (SCRIPT) Dissemination and Evaluation Program.

If you have any questions, please contact Janet Johnston at afjj5@uaa.alaska.edu.
