Music majors and minors invited to meet on Aug. 27

Are you a new music major or minor? We would like to invite you to a music majors meeting on Friday, Aug. 27 at 3 p.m. in Fine Arts Bldg., Room 150. This will be your chance to meet the faculty and staff, find out what the requirements are for your degree, and maybe win some great door prizes. Members of the Music Education National Conference (MENC) will be there to explain how to join the club and the benefits of being a member. This meeting will count toward 'recital attendance.' Not sure what that means? All the more reason to attend the meeting. See you there!


Important dates for theory exam: New majors are encouraged to take the Theory Placement Exam (a 10- to 15-minute test). This exam is being offered on Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 1 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. in Fine Arts Building, Room 124. The test will help instructors know if you are placed in the correct class, assuring you of a successful start to your time at UAA.

One of the most important things you can do for a great start to your education with UAA's  Dept. of Music is meet with your advisor, from whom you will receive guidance and advice. This is required of each and every major every semester. You can only sign up for juried private lessons with your advisor's approval.
