Oct. 15, 2010: Arctic FASD RTC offers FASD 101

The workshop meets the requirements for the State of Alaska's Department of Health and Social Services' FASD101: Insights into Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders training. It is a four-hour, interactive workshop designed to introduce participants to fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.

Learning Objectives

Describe the effects of alcohol on the developing embryo and fetus
Explain the characteristics of FAS/FASDs
Explain how to prevent alcohol-exposed pregnancies
Describe how individuals with FAS/FASDs are screened and diagnosed
Discuss treatments and therapies available for individuals with FAS/FASDs
Describe the psycho-social and cultural effects of FASDs

Target Audience
Health and allied health professionals
Students in health and allied health programs
Educators
Professionals who may work with individuals with FASD
Community members interested in learning more about FASD

Prerequisites
No previous knowledge of FASDs is required
