Re: Personnel news

I regret to announce that Peter Risse, director of the Chugiak-Eagle River Campus (CERC), will be leaving UAA on Nov. 5. Peter has accepted the position of associate dean of Extended Studies at Boise State University.

Peter joined UAA's Community and Technical College in 2002 as the director of the North Pacific Fisheries Observer Training Center, and was responsible for the overall vision, direction and administration of this important training program. In 2006, he began work as the director of UAA's CERC. In this capacity, he managed a general fund budget of $1.65 million, and nearly $1 million in grants and contracts.. Through his leadership, CERC has expanded to offer over 300 UAA course sections that are taught by approximately 70 adjunct faculty; these course sections generate over 15,000 student credit hours annually. Peter has also served as the driving force in the development of training opportunities in the Anchorage area, creating workforce development opportunities for a variety of industries and corporations.

Please join me in congratulating Peter on his new position at Boise State University and in thanking him for his service and strong leadership at UAA over the past eight years. An interim director for CERC will be named shortly.
