The Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend: A Case Study in Implementation of a Basic Income Guarantee

by Kathleen McCoy  |

It's that time again when Alaskans anticipate a nice boost to their checking accounts from the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD). The PFD program has piqued the interest of people all over the world, and Scott Goldsmith of UAA's Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) traveled this summer to Brazil to give a presentation about it at the 13th Basic Income Earth Network Congress at the University of Sao Paulo. Download and read his fascinating paper titled, "The Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend: A Case Study in Implementation of a Basic Income Guarantee (PDF)."

ISER is Alaska's oldest public policy research organization, founded soon after Alaska became a state. ISER's research offers a broad look at all the issues that have been important in Alaska from the 1960s through the present. For more information about ISER and to see the valuable work these hard-working economists have been up to, visit the website at www.iser.uaa.alaska.edu.
