The Center for Community Engagement and Learning and the Office of International Affairs are pleased to host three open events where students, faculty, staff and the public can learn about Guatemala, discuss some of the conditions experienced there -- particularly by the indigenous Maya population -- and what possibilities exist for global service-learning in Guatemala in the future.

Avivara is an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving access to quality education in Guatemala. Two of the founders, Ann Austin and Gustavo Valle, will be visiting UAA to discuss their work and the conditions they encounter in small villages near Antigua.

Please attend one of the information sessions. Light snacks will be served and hand-woven Maya fabrics will be on display with some items for sale.

For more information, please visit the Center for Community Engagement and Learning website. Come and discover how one organization is working to improve a community.
