UAA Professor Jeffrey Miller named October 2010 Meeting Champion for ACVB

Congratulations to Dr. Jeffrey Miller, who recently received the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau's October 2010 Meeting Champion award.
A meeting champion is a local person who works with the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) to help secure convention/meeting business for Anchorage. Miller was instrumental in bringing four Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) meetings and 2,950 delegates to Anchorage between 2009 and 2012. The conferences were:
- IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, Sept. 2009
- IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, May 2010
- IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Conference. Sept. 2011
- IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference, Sept. 2012
The estimated economic impact to the Anchorage economy is more than $3 million.
Miller has taught at UAA for three years and is currently a professor of Computer Systems Engineering. For his hard work and efforts, he will also be considered for the Meeting Champion of the Year award this spring.
