UAA Professor Jeffrey Miller named October 2010 Meeting Champion for ACVB

Dr. Jeffrey Miller named ACVB Meeting Champ for OctoberCongratulations to Dr. Jeffrey Miller, who recently received the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau's October 2010 Meeting Champion award.

A meeting champion is a local person who works with the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) to help secure convention/meeting business for Anchorage. Miller was instrumental in bringing four Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) meetings and 2,950 delegates to Anchorage between 2009 and 2012. The conferences were:

  • IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, Sept. 2009
  • IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, May 2010
  • IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Conference. Sept. 2011
  • IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference, Sept. 2012

The estimated economic impact to the Anchorage economy is more than $3 million.

Miller has taught at UAA for three years and is currently a professor of Computer Systems Engineering. For his hard work and efforts, he will also be considered for the Meeting Champion of the Year award this spring.
