The Cama-i Room is a social gathering place and study center for all UAA students. Cama-i Room programs and activities celebrate Alaska Native, Native American and Alaskan cultures.


Book Display Monday, Nov. 15, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. UAA/APU Consortium Library Displays will circulate in celebration of Alaska Native/Native American Heritage Month

Fry Bread Tuesday, Nov. 16, 5-8 p.m. Celebrate Alaska Native/Native American Heritage Month with fry bread. Make your own and top it with a variety of goodies! All supplies provided.


Smoke-Out with Betty Tuesday, Nov. 16, 7-9 p.m. Grand Hallway, Gorsuch Commons Learn about the effects of smoking, how to quit, and how to support those who are trying to quit.

St. Lawrence Island Dance Practice Tuesday, Nov. 16, 7-9 p.m. Gorsuch Commons Join the St. Lawrence Island Dancers by watching their practice or taking part in the dances that are open to all visitors. Meets every Tuesday and Thursday.

Athabascan Language Circle Tuesday, Nov. 16, 8-9 p.m. Join professor Roy Mitchel and other speakers and learners of the various Athabascan language dialects. All levels are welcome to attend! Meets every Tuesday.


Creativity with Russell: Soap Carving Wednesday, Nov. 17, 7-9 p.m. De-stress with Russell every Wednesday. This week, carve a bar of soap to spice up your bathroom!

Yupik Dancing with Ingrimuiut Wednesday, Nov. 17, 7-9 p.m. Gorsuch Commons, Room 107 All are invited to participate in the weekly dance group practice for Ingrimuiut: People of the Mountains. They are a Yupik dance group that is lead by Ossie Kairaiuak. Sponsored by Residence Life, ANROP, Conference Services and Parking Services. Meets every Wednesday.

Games, Games, Games Wednesday, Nov. 17, 9-11 p.m. Stop by to play board games, card games, video games, Alaska games and more. There will be a different focus every Wednesday.

Career Services Information Table Thursday, Nov. 18, 5:30-7 p.m. Grand Hallway, Gorsuch Commons Learn about services offered to assist you in getting a job or career that you want! Information table every Thursday.


Sharing Traditions Dance Fan Earrings/Keychains with Alutiiq Artist Jared Selanoff Thursday, Nov. 18, 6-8 p.m. A new art project, artist or elder will be offered each Thursday by the Sharing Traditions Host, Jayme Johnson. This week: Many Alaska Native groups use dance fans to enhance their movements. Create miniature fan earrings or a keychain. All are welcome to take part in the activities and meet the special guests.


St. Lawrence Island Dance Practice Thursday, Nov. 18, 7-9 p.m. Gorsuch Commons Join the St. Lawrence Island Dancers by watching their practice or taking part in the dances that are open to all visitors. Meets every Tuesday and Thursday.

Native Student Council Friday, Nov. 19, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Show your pride in Native cultures and become involved with the Alaska Native community at UAA and in Anchorage through this student club. Bag Making Friday, Nov. 19, 9-11:30 p.m. Sew your own drawstring bag or over-the-shoulder bag to carry your belongings.
