Elements of a Modern Mine
Presented by Visiting Professor of Public Policy, Bob Loeffler, ISER

The mining industry in Alaska is seeing a resurgence, with the overall value of mining activities and production last year totaling nearly $3 billion. But most people in Alaska have never seen a mine. Bob Loeffler, visiting professor of public policy at ISER, will provide a visual tour of an Alaska mine and talk about the important elements of modern mines. He'll also describe examples of methods mines use to manage water.

Bob Loeffler has over 25 years of government, management and natural resources experience, including seven years as director of the Alaska Division of Mining, Land and Water. He holds master's degrees in environmental engineering and in city and regional planning. Please join us at ISER to learn about modern mines.

The Diplomacy Building is at 4500 Diplomacy Drive, at the corner of Tudor Road and Tudor Centre Drive. Parking is free. For directions, please call (907) 786-7710.
