LAST DAY: 35th Great American Smokeout set Nov. 16-18

by Kathleen McCoy  |

The Great American Smokeout Is just around the corner! This day is promoted by the American Cancer Society. It aims and encourage smokers to use the date to quit tobacco for one day, set a quit date, or at the very least raise awareness of the health effects of tobacco and give users the confidence to quit in the future.

UAA is joining the American Cancer Society in recognizing this annual national observance. UAA will be setting up booths in various locations around campus Nov. 16-18 to provide information on the benefits of quitting tobacco products and marijuana, tips on how to quit and referral information for those interested in receiving additional support in their quit attempt.

The booths will provide interactive opportunities such as making a personalized "quit kit" or trading in some tobacco product for a turkey sandwich, symbolizing the act of quitting "cold turkey."
