The following events are part of 2011 UAA Alaska Civil Rights Month schedule of events:

"Our Stories" panel set for Jan. 19
Wednesday, Jan. 19, 4 p.m.
Student Union, South Cafeteria
Panel discussion on the effort to secure Civil Rights for individuals who experience disability. Light Refreshments.

Humanitarian Lisa Shannon speaks Jan. 20
Thursday, Jan. 20, 7:30 p.m.
Wendy Williamson Auditorium
"The Worst Place to be a Woman" is a presentation by Lisa Shannon, founder of Run for Congo Women.

"Our Stories" panel discussion with LGBT community and film showing:
"Milk" on Jan. 26
Wednesday, Jan. 26, 4 p.m.
Student Union South Cafeteria.   
Light refreshments will be provided.

"A History of Civil Rights in Canada" features Carey Gray and Kent Spiers on Feb. 1
Tuesday, Feb. 1, 5-7 p.m.
UAA Campus Bookstore, Upper level
The International Student Association presents "A History of Civil Rights in Canada."

"Our Stories" panel discussion with Black/African Americans on Feb. 9
Wednesday, Feb. 9, 4 p.m.

Faculty Senate Diversity Committee, Co-Chairs present 'Global Civil Rights Stories' Feb. 11
Friday, Feb. 11, 1 p.m.

Celebrate Elizabeth Peratrovich Day with "Our Stories" Feb. 16
Wednesday, Feb. 16, 4 p.m.
Student Union, South Cafeteria
"Our Stories" panel discussion with Alaska Natives will be followed by a film showing of "For the Rights of All: Ending Jim Crow in Alaska." Light refreshments will be provided.
