Dr. Eugenie Scott offers public lecture on 'Teaching Evolution' - Jan. 27, 2011

Dr. Eugenie Scott will speak about teaching evolution Jan. 27, 7-9 pm, LIB 307Please join us for an overview of the origins, approaches and current status of the anti-evolution movement. This evening will include a discussion of ways to ensure the integrity of the science education of the next generation of Americans.

From creationism to creation science to intelligent design to the present day "evidence against evolution" approach, anti-evolutionists have consistently changed their strategy for attacking the theory of evolution in response to legal decisions.

Dr. Eugenie Scott holds her doctorate in Physical Anthropology from the University of Missouri. She is executive director of the National Center for Science Education, a non-profit working to keep evolution in public school science education.

How to park free for this event:

Parking for the Eugenie Scott Lecture on Thursday, Jan. 27 will be free in two UAA Parking Areas:

  • Library Main Lot (to the East of the Consortium Library (24) (access off of Alumni Drive)
  • East Parking Garage #8 on the map (Access off of Alumni Drive)
